Welsh young people and the Far Right.....

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/education/extremism-terrorism-schools-wales-estyn-17687237.amp?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar&__twitter_impression=true&fbclid=IwAR0UPvq_rqqWbHP4yTHk19swdei90crcoqj1BXruVWtcS3dht6xDtxq9IUw

Worrying cases of far right wing and religious extremism in schools are detailed in the report drawn up at the request of Education Minister Kirsty Williams, but most of the cases of fanaticism are around “unclear ideology", with just 15% classed as Islamic and 24% as right wing.

Latest statistics from Estyn show quite clearly a particular threat from the far right in Wales. In over 250 cases ealling with young people it's been shown that 25% of cases come from the far right as opposed to 15% from Islamic fundamentalism. While the press and media stress the threat of 'brown" terrorists they obscure the fact that the far right are obscured and denied as a threat in main stream culture. Wales has been developing it's own home grown far right over the last ten years and this has had a reflection in youth culture and it's outlook.l

Reports of racist outbursts in class, a refusal to have friends or interact with others from different ethnicities, posting far right social media and a refusal to study or reflect upon beliefs or philosophies from other ethnicities or cultures have been reported on a disturbing level.
The chanting of names such as Tommy Robinson and using the term "Muslim" as a pejorative is quite wide spread and seen as everyday speech.

Estyns report deals with the growing influence of far right tropes and outlook. It's no accident that we can see a correlation between attacks on the Islamic community and this trend. We have seen the far right search for a niche within Wales. They have sought to base their campaign setting up vigilante groups against paedophilia, the honouring of veterans and dealing with homelessness amongst them, they have sought to bully and intimidate progressive activists and are increasingly becoming involved advising parents when children are taken into care. Significant numbers of the far right have been involved in the recent disciplinary case of Neil McEvoy by Cardiff Council. It reached such a point that Neil McEvoy was forced to tweet a response stressings his own Islamic family roots and links. Perhaps Neil will learn in future not to use the child abusei n Rotheram and Rochdale I in this way. He should know how it would be perceived and who it would draw in. The far right is looking for an identity and issues to promote it's insidious presence. Weksh bloggers like Jac o" the North has extensively used the jargon of the alt right and promoted the ideas and films of Steve Bannon and Victor Oborn. While not suggesting Royston Jones is a far right blogger his use of their tropes feeds the rise of their ideas and influence. Estyn"s report shows a growing threat within Wales from the far right Look around the social media of Wales and you will see the far right looking back at you in words, actions and thoughts. Be warned the Jackboots of Fascism and the Far Right are marching through the minds of a significant section of Welsh minds. It is fed by bitter old men and ignorant bullying far right activists. They come in many forms hidden behind 'respectable and caring roles. They come from the Terraces and the football field, from pseudo-charitable concerns and the manipulation of fears; concerns, hopes and worries. Don't be fooled..
