Citizens Income, a PIPS victory and G4S... and exclamation marks Thoughts on September 1

Thoughts on the Future.. the need for a Citizens Income.

September 1 dawns . There was a hint of a frost in the dew today. I head for Ystradgynlais Bus Station to Neath. Then it's in to the Port Talbot Justice Centre. Today and on September 13 I have two appeals for clients. In each case the removal of PIPs has led to severe isolation. The very idea of personal independence so beloved of the political right has been stolen from the vulnerable and the isolated. These two cases represent a sample of what has happened to thousands of people across the UK. The experience of an appeal is a deeply disturbing experience for the client as each area of their life is explored, assessed and decided upon. The sooner we face up to the need for a citizens income the better it will be. I grow tired of the ignorance and stupidity I still read on Facebook groups that poverty is caused by individual action, that addiction us a choice and that mental illness a shameful thing the more angry I become.

A citizens income would break down the scrounger and saint myth , destroy the fear of being flooded by the other and show us that we are all citizens because we live here, spend our money here and support the community that way. The days of full employment have gone , artificial intelligence, big data and driverless vehicles mean that many will never work. We either except the citizens income for all or we go down the path of the nightmare of the Third Reich. The simple solutions of the alt right lead to the gas chambers and eugenics. In the next century either the Left takes power or we as Marx predicted face " Barbanism" and there is no middle ground...wish me luck..

We won. Mobility abd care given for five years. The Doctor on the panel was brilliant. he understood mental health, was empathic and asked all the right questions. I am delighted.

G4S does it again.Panorama reveal abuse by its employees mocking and abusing detainees. In Medway in the Criminal Justice system we saw the same thing a couple of years ago. Yet the origins of this abuse lat in the words in the actions and phrases of Farage, Lepen and Trump , in the ravings if the Daily Mail, and the Express, the Sun and the prejudice and lies they promote.Abuse is justified and fed by these people and organisations...

I hear on Radio 4 that the exclamation mark is the most insecure form of punctuation. It somehow expresses the fact that your words are not enough. Donald Trump is the best illustration of this . Lacan always claimed that language is our greatest limitation . He said none of us could be understood adequately by another so that we should just stop worrying about that. Well all I have to say is.....!
