I remember the words of the leavers about the doom and gloom of the remainers. We were mocked and trade deals were easy they said. Think positive they cried, it will be back to the good old days..when men were men,women knew their place and we were all patriotic, and everyone was white...and straight...we knew the binaries and our identities said the leavers were certain of it. Back to the glorious past that never was. 

And now the chickens come home to roost . We know that Canadian deal with America failed because American companies wanted access to the health services and social services. You that loved Trump will now see the meaning of America First. Economic nationalism will mean that Trump will come to us asking for access to our health service, our social services, offering a trade deal if we cut our benefits...and the American companies asking to control our benefit assessments will make ATOS and Capita seem like the angel Gabriel. They will want chlorinated chicken, growth hormones in our meat, and genetically modification of our fruit, vegetables and our drinking water. Do you really think you are getting your country back?

In Northern Ireland which voted to remain, the first hammer blows fall in a DUP held constituency. As I see the antics of the May government...I am reminded of other days nearly 40 years ago in the dieing days the Callaghan government..

The May government is doomed. It makes last two months or two years but the end us coming. I smell the decay in the air as the big beasts begin to fight. The naked ambition, the stench of corruption us everywhere. And those who said Trade deals were easy are seen to be stupid, ignorant and without understanding. .

Trump's alligators from the swamp of plutocracy have swum the Atlantic and are coming ashore in Northern Ireland. The Irish Sea is a thin ribbon like steam to them and next they will be swarming ashore in Aberafan eating their way across the areas that got their country back, creating more unskilled work, lower wages and a weaker safety net. Did you really not understand what America First meant? Did you really not know what Trump was! Did you really not know what a public school educated former stock broker called Farage was about! In the land of Brexit Island the man with hamster like orange wig is your king...welcome to the future...I did try to warn you...I really did...but who am I ..except a remoaner...and Mr Schadenfreude..and I am the revenant of the snowflakes . Be afraid...very afraid...what was all that tosh about British Independence day ? If you live by the "free market" you die by it too...

Iraq threatens the kurds..On Radio 4 I hear the brutal words if the Iraqui Foreign minister threaten armed response to the Kurdish 82% vote for independence. He talks of a new Israel being created and fails to mention that Iraq is an artificial creation drawn on a map by imperial powers at Versailles. As I think back to the brutal repression of Kurds over the centuries I ask the simple question ..when will we ever learn. The Kurds fought the brutal warriors of the Islamic state , now will the Iraqui army be turned on them .And will Erdogan support a new invasion backed by the Turkish army as he seeks his creation of a new Ottoman state....

The limitations of the price mechansm....At last a potential Prime-Minister talking of the crisis of capitalism. A Chancellor in waiting who does not think the price mechanism solved problems universally . The price mechanism and the market it brings into being is brutal, unconscious and violent. I have always been horrified to think how the philosophers of the 18th century could think otherwise. Plato,Aristotle and Socrates would have asked why we allow this blind consuming mechanism that is global capitalism to be our God and our controller. Trickle down economics simply means that we allow corporations to piss upon the poor and powerless from a great hieght..

The. ' Libertarians" and the right who worship at the shrine of the price mechanisms.could hardly find a more brutal and unfree demon to offer burnt offerings to. They make a categorical error confusing capitalism with the market. Like most simple explanations they fail to understand the difference and talk of terms like "free trade" failing to understand the very relations if power make it impossible. There is no libertarian role in international capitalism,no freedom of choice and no real understanding of power and it's methods. They are lazy, ignorant and essentially narcissistic and defining freedom as what they do because they wish to do it. The modern self styled American Libertarian is merely defending anarchism for rich people and their own selfishness....and they are poorly read and shockingly educated.
