Personal thoughts on the background and motives of 'antisemetic' accusations

Thoughts on the background and motives of 'antisemetic' accusations There is no monolithic Jewish community just as there is no monolithic Welsh community. There are right wing Welsh people who do not want a socialist Wales . There are people within the Jewish community who are right wing and do not wish Cornyn to come to power. But neither is it anti semitic or anti Welsh to oppose right wing and far right policies of the Nethanyanu government or the Bannon loving Jac o t

The Jewish contribution to the study of society is formidable. The experience of being outsiders enables you to observe so much that is taken for granted. Marx, Freud, Trotsky, John Lansman, and Ralph Miliband come to mind. My own Social Anthropology teacher Len Mars made similar observations on the value of standing outside your own culture and observing it with a new eye. The left has a long honourable legacy to Jewish culture and thought. Anti Semiticism exists across western culture it's roots lay in the old " medieval" perception of being Christ killers and of the perceived role as money lenders.( it was a sin in medieval Europe for an individual to lend money and charge intetest) . These perceptions have probably been the cultural roots of the phenomena.
I cone from Jewish roots. I have a perceived cultural awareness that has led me to experience anti Semiticism. One was at my English Prep school and another when I went shopping in Edinbugh . I also remember when walking around Venice I was invited in to a Lubevich Synagoguec by the Rabbi mistaking me for one of his congregation. I know the Hebrew alphabet ; I know kaballah , I love Jewish folklore and myth.. but I loath the government of Israel and it's policies. I support a two state solution and campaign for a secular Israel and Palestine. But when I discover the nature of the rights campaign against Corbyn tben I feel repulsion. This campaign will use anything to stop the left. And I wonder who on the NEC would record parts of the meeting. And I wonder about their motives.. many things are said at meetings that taken out of context and when said emotively can be used by our opponents. I am sure that my own language has been colourful and unwise about certain figures on the right in the area.

However the truth is that some will do anything to stop the left. Many of whom claim to be supporters of Labour but would prefer a Tory government to a Socialist one. The Labour party has grown dramatically under Corbyn bit it's quite clear that certain members no longer belong to it's soul or outlook. Their's is a tradition that has a long history but it now belongs to the Liberal Democrats and not a Socialist Party. If you don't realise that you don't belong then I hope mandatory re-selection will do the job and show you. .

these thoughts and information by ripon Ray are most illuminating....` Luisa Berger's history and survival depended upon and depend upon leading anti-Semitic campaigns. She was accusing a National Executive Committee member of the National Union of Students. She co-convened the NUS Anti-Racism/Anti-Fascism Campaign. In April 2005, she resigned from the Executive Committee, accusing other NEC members of anti-Semitism.[15]
An independent inquiry later cleared the NUS of failing to tackle anti-Semitism, but criticised it for not having rigorous complaints procedures in place and reacting too slowly to allegations. The report was also critical of Berger, who attended a meeting with the head of the School of Oriental and African Studies following complaints from Jewish students that the union was tolerating anti-Semitism. It stated that "Miss Berger should not have attended the meeting, which was implicitly critical of the union, when she was a national executive member. Protocol dictates she should have sought to support the union in tackling the problem first".[16]
Berger was the Director of Labour Friends of Israel for three years, but stepped down before the 2010 general election to stand in Liverpool.`
