The Political discourse changes.........
I was
watching a recording of Jeremy Corbyns rally in Liverpool.L heard the
words of the "Internationale" echo through the crowd. I
wonder how long it is since I have heard it sung.At lunch time I was
talking to a friend of mine who remembers singing it in houses in the
Sandfields in Swansea in the 70's 80's when he was a member of the
Militant Tendency. Something profound is happening there is a
confidence growing out there amongst those who have not been involved
in politics for a very long time. Perhaps the rise of
environmentalism, that of ecosocialism and the Green Party, the
Corbyn campaign has put critical theory back as mainstream political
discourse. Its the business models that are the dinosaurs and change
is on the brink....the left over the last 40 years has often appeared
too macho .....too unaware of sustainabilty and lacked a green heart,
it often ignored sexual and identity politics it also failed to
understand the politics of Wales and Scotland. I Perhaps these themes
and critiques are merging and the old Brit Left is becomming
something wider, more inclusive, less centralised, less male, less
elitist and more welcoming... I speculate again..
