Mercy me I am becoming Bill Brand or shall we call it " My friends in Ystradgynlais"
Tbe
Ystradgynlais Labour AGM is over.... Mercy me I am becoming Bill Brand
or shall we call it " My friends in Ystradgynlais". The greatest irony
of my political persona is that finally at the age of nearly 62 I become
my adolescent hero Bill Brand. The Ystradgynlais Labour AGM is over
and a new committee elected. Trish oncemors is chairperson and I once
more am the Secretary. Roger Maidment becomes Treasurer and Josh Morgan the Youth Officer. We have Lisa Phillips as Vice Chair and Monique Craine in a Job share with Roger Rees as Political Education Officer. Welcome to Vaughan our new Social Media Officer and Stephen Gray
as Campaign Committee member . It was one of the largest meetings I
have seen here . I say I feel like Bill brand as a voice on the Left as I
hear the plaintiff cry "We are a broad church" which effectively means I
accept the status quo but want to make it slightly less nasty. It also
implies that the broadeness is effectively used without the word
socialism and implies that our there somewhere are a secret group
plotting the revolution of which I am a representative. There is also an
inability to distinguish Momentum from Militant and forgets that 18
months ago the branch met bimonthly with an average attendance of 8 .The
episode of Bill Brand below carries echoes of what I have seen,
experienced and enjoyed. The Labour Party in all its glory and shadow is
a wonderful political education that attracts, at times repels yet
creates a fascination with the human psyche in all its glory and all of
its Id. Within it all the Freudian defence mechanisms can be seen and
experienced . I wouldn't miss it for the world and within it I often
glimpse my own frailties, strengths and perceptions. At long last I have
become Bill Brand....Venceremos comrades ...enjoy the first episode of
the series...
