I actually think, as in Prometheus's stolen fire, and "eating from the Tree of Knowledge", the "sin to be repented" is consciousness.

I actually think, as in Prometheus's stolen fire, and "eating from the Tree of Knowledge", the "sin to be repented" is consciousness. The "sin" is against our animal nature, leaving its "Eden" paradise for an Archimedean third point of consciousness. It is this act to which all Creation myths speak. I think it's very telling that what the patriarchal "Yahweh" was really offended by is man leaving the feminine mother body of nature and the earth for the masculine logos of "the awareness of it."
