We stand on the brink of something unpleasant and vile.On Feb 23 the by elections in Copeland and Stoke on Trent occur. I know Stoke I was born nearby. Paul Nuttal is about to stir up a wave of prejudice that has not been since the Rivers of Blood speech some 50 years ago. In Copeland the media seek to make much of the role of nuclear power. The truth is that Nuclear power because of its form, nature and role cannot be owned democtratically or accountably like renewable power and energy can be.Nuclear power is best managed by a centralised authoritarian state not a decentralised one. In Europe the far right gather ,the Northern Leage, the AFD, the Front Nationale and the Freedom Party. In the USA millions march, protest and take action against the most unpopular President ever. We await the Sumpreme Court decision on Tuesday..the forces close in on one another....the populist authoritarian right and the reinvigorated left look ,observe and test one another.Never has intolerance, projection and displacement stalked the land so much. ...fear and loathing stalk the land....in theUSA a man with a thin skin and a large ego looms over us.His simplistic business transactional psychology shrinks, limits and freezes hope and tolerance. A man ressembling Eddie Hitler plans to sell the same model to Stoke on Trent and then to us all. And as these twin prophets of the market speak through the sacred texts of the Daily Express.
One hundred Years ago W B Yeates wrote the poem the poem "The second coming" Yeates talked about two forces or gyres battling it out ...as chaos is loosed upon the world where the falcon cannot find the falconer.Things fall apart where the worst are filled with passionate intensity. How apt to describe this time..In "Easter 1916" Yeates wrote that a terrible beauty was born....we are abot to wake up and see Donald and Paul slouching forward to a simplistic, price mechanism of a world....we stand on the edge of a Hegalian moment...the next month will be crucial to decide which paradigm of the future will become real. Let us hope for the best and become active in all areas of the political .....to educate, inform and empower..
