We must build an alternative to this nightmare
This morning has been like reliving the awful hours after the Brexit vote. Donald Trump is the President-elect of the United States. Like the Leave vote, his was an election built on the failure of the political establishment; and on racism and hate.
On December 5th, Nigel Farage is threatening to march on the Supreme Court to demand that the power to implement Article 50 is taken away from Parliament and handed back to Theresa May. He will be joined by fascist groups like the English Defence League (EDL). Unless we act, we could witness the beginnings of a new far right street movement in Britain.
We will be there to stand against them. We are for an alternative to the nightmare future of Donald Trump, Nigel Farage and the rising tide of racism and authroritarianism. We are for a world run in the interests of people and the planet.
Another Europe is Possible is calling for a mass gathering outside the Supreme Court to defend democracy and say no to hate. Assemble at 12 noon in Parliament Square (this time may change).
We live in dark times. It is our duty to light a candle and fight back.
